Traditional High Poker Hand Ranks
Royal Flush
A Royal Flush is a straight Flush with a Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace - a once in a lifetime hand.
Straight Flush
Mix a straight and a flush and you get a straight flush - 5 consecutive cards of the same suit - One hell of a poker hand.
Four of a Kind (commonly referred to as Quads)
Four cards all of the same number but different suits (obviously!). The higher the card, the better the four of a kind.
Full House (commonly referred to as a Full Boat)
Three of a kind and a pair in the one hand.
Flush
That's 5 cards of the same suit. Any cards will do, they don't have to be in order but the best Flush has the highest card in it.
Straight
A straight is 5 cards of consecutive numbers. The suit doesn't matter and an Ace can be high or low. The higher the highest card, the better the straight.
3 of a Kind
Three cards of the same number. Three 7's, Three Jacks - you get the idea!
Two Pair
2 cards of the same rank and then another two cards of a different rank - therefore 2 separate pairs.
Pair
The next best hand is a pair, two cards of the same number.
High Card
The lowest hand in poker where the 5 cards do not make any of the above hands. When up against another High Card Hand, the hand with the highest card wins.
